Environmental Responsibility

The Earth

The awareness of this project partners and collaborators about the environmental respect and the relevant figures for global growth of electronic waste, the not properly managed waste rate and the potential recovery they have, leads them to create and collaborate on this project.

One of the goals it faces is to facilitate all actors in the life cycle of electronic products to comply with environmental legislations with the wills of all of them to contribute and share all the key information needed.

Some of the legislations are:

REACH: Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of chemical substances.

RoHS: Directive 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 8 June 2011 on the restriction of the use of certain substances in electrical and electronic equipment. Many of the categories of electronic products require lead-free components.

ErP: Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 October 2009. Regulation requiring product designers to reduce power consumption of a product throughout its life cycle, from extraction of the material in the mine to final disposal/recycling.

WEEE: Directive 2012/19/EU of the European Parliament and the Council of 4 July 2012 on electrical and electronic waste. Any business that manufactures or distributes electronic products in the European Union needs to comply with RAE regulations.

Environmental legislation

Directive 2012/19/UE of 4 July 2012 on waste electrical and electronic equipment which introduces stricter targets for collection and recycling of electrical and electronic waste and obliges in the phase of Creation, Design, Manufacturing and Recycling.
